RE: Delamination I think???

I fixed my delamination. The first thing you have to do is decide what you are going to use an adhesive. That is determined by accessability. If you use an epoxy, it will be neccessary to completely dry out the moisture between the panels. In my opinion this is the hard part. I fashioned a fan and tubing rig that I could get between the panels and let it dry out for several weeks. Then I put together a clamping system between my rig and the garage walls. Then I made an epoxy injection system using refilable caulk tube and plastic tubing. I gain access, in my case the trim molding and rear view mirror. I injected the epoxy and moved it around with a laminate roller. Then clamped. I used this method for two locations. In a third location it was impossible to dry out so I used a urethane adhesive that in moisture activated i.e. Gerilla Glue. Its been two years now and all is well. Took several weeks in planning and drying out and about an hour to acually do the work. Wish I took pictures. There really wasn't much to see.

RE: Fixer Upper

When purchaning an older rig you are paying for used/depreciated parts such as generator,A/C,Roof A/C,carpet,couch,microwave and mini-blinds. When you go to replace these things you are paying for new items with new prices and sticking them in a 20 year old coach. If you add the cost of replacing these parts. Why not invest in a 10 year old coach not in need of a new generator,A/C,Roof A/C,carpet,couch,microwave and mini-blinds?

Kick the heat

My 22' Brave is a little cramped for space. I always worry about using a stand alone electric heater and getting it kicked over. Has anyone installed an electric toe kick heater like you would use under a kitchen cabinet? I have one in my house and it works great. Mounts in the wall or under a sink and is 4" tall and about 12" wide.

RE: Fan Belt

If it's a V-belt, I have had the pulley on the harmonic balancer rust and cause a squeal. The fix, replace the pulley.

Mail anyone?

I have a 1992 22' Winnie Brave that to me looks like a UPS delivery truck. I have been looking at bigger newer models. No matter where I go other campers keep commenting that "thats a great size", "nice floor plan", "great shape" and on and on. Took a look at a new Winnie View this weekend and it had the exact same floor plan. The dealer took a look at my rig and completely talked the DW out of getting a new one... What the heck??? No point to this I'm just venting..

RE: Cover a gasser's grille in the winter?

I used to put a piece of cardboard over the radiator when I was in high school. The school was about 3 miles from my house. Worked great. Then one day I went out of town and forgot about the cardboard. Blew antifreeze all over the place.

RE: How are you and your RV during these times?

I used to store my motorhome in a friends heated garage which allowed me to rv into December. Because of the economy my friend sold his garage. The place I am storing it in this year said that it had to be in for the winter by Columbus Day. I would say that the economy has indirectly affected my rving until I build a new garage.

123 ignition

This makes no sense to me. My furnace will not light when my rig is unplugged from 120 volts. The batteries are fully charged putting out 12.3 volts. Plug it into 120 volts lights works everytime. Unplug...no ignition. Unplugged the Fan turns, sail switch works and is closed, thermostat works, gas valve works (I can smell the gas), I can hear the igniter popping...no go. Plug it in it works..

RE: If bail out passes and works

I have a friend who owns a small business, employs about 10 people that is about to close the doors. Who does he see to bail him out? I would rather see money go to him.

RE: High Test gas gets MUCH better MPG

can hear U'all screamin...NOPE...I am(or was) an absolute non-believer. My two sons kept arguing the point. I have a 2006 Class'A', Ford V10, 362 HP, 5 speed tranny. The book says to use regular 87 octane gas. I would only do it if THEY bought the 92 octane gas. They did...IT IS TRUE! On this last trip from Miami, Fl. out to Moab Utah and back. I saw a consistant 15% increase in MPG. (7.25 to 8.4 MPG) Whenever the gas cost difference between regular and High test is less than 15% increase its well worth it. Nowadays when gas is soo expensive I'm seeing the added cost of High Test at only 20 to 25 cents a gallon more which is only about a 6% increased cost based on regular at about $3.80 a gallon. Plus the added power on hills is impressive too. 15% minus 6% = 9% savings? Try it, U'll like it. Absolutely 1 gallon regular 87 octane = 125,000 BTU 1 gallon high test gasoline = 125,000 BTU Wonder if Kenny Bernstiens car will break 300 mph on 87 octane? Octane affects fuel burn rate. The higher the octane the further you can increase the compression ratio, advance the ignition timing, raise the cam duration making more horsepower, using that 125,000 btu more efficiently.

RE: Fantastic Vent

I installed a new Fantastic vent in my rig because I heard of their great service. Tired of dealing with ripoff companies and the boneheads they hire. Keep up the good work Fantastic Vent!!!

RE: If bail out passes and works

I don't know about others but I just sat down to negotiate my raise and I got more than I thought I would because I complained about the cost of living. Now I can afford a new rig. Plus if they take the 700 billion bail out money and distribute it umong the 200 million people above 18 in the US. Gives about $3,500. I would have enough for a down payment.

RE: 240 volts to the RV?

There is a way to prevent 240 from entering your system..ever. Instead of using a 2 pole 50 amp breaker use two single pole 30 and and make sure they plug into the same set of buss bars in the panel.

RE: more efficient furnace

Flyfisherman128, Does the Water Heater still function as a Hot water source for the Trailer Sinks and Shower or is it a dedicated unit? Dunno. I don't have this sytem because most of the campgrounds around here close on Columbus Day which ends my camping season. In any event, my thinking on this is if you don't have a dedicated system then when your heating and showering the water heater may never catch up. After all we are only talking about 5 gallons. I also think that the life span of a single water heater will be reduced because of the added load. The other concern I had was that the water temp in the tank me be reduced below 120 degrees for long periods of time which may breed bacteria. If I were doing it I would use antifreeze in the heating system so I wouldn't have to drain it. One other thought, my hot water tank has a coil in it that heats the hot water from the engine while you are driving. Perhaps you could tie the hydronic heater into this part of the hot water tank.
